When you've run out of hope, The Tiny Room is where people come to find it again.
We are a private therapy practice in Cape Town’s Northern Suburbs, and we specialise in the hardest cases — suicidal thoughts, self-harm, and crisis — while welcoming anyone who is struggling with their mental health and well-being.
We are not your typical therapy practice. And that is entirely the point.
The Tiny Room is a private counselling and therapy practice built on one belief — that everyone who is struggling deserves access to professional, effective therapy without having to wait months, spend a fortune, or sit in open-ended sessions that go nowhere.
We don’t do indefinite therapy. We don’t do vague goals and circular conversations. We offer one thing — our structured, evidence-based 8-week therapeutic process — and we do it exceptionally well.
Our doors are open to everyone. No judgement. No prerequisites. Just a safe, professional space where your struggle is taken seriously and your progress is the only agenda.
One process.
Built for the hardest moments.
Designed to last.
The Tiny Room Integrated Therapeutic Framework — TTRITF — is our proprietary 8-week therapy process. It is the only therapeutic offering we provide, and there is a deliberate reason for that.
Most therapy is open-ended. You book a session, you talk, you come back next week and do it again. Months pass. Sometimes years. The goalposts shift constantly and measurable progress is rare. That model works for some people. It is not what we do.
TTRITF was developed because we believe that structured, purposeful therapy — with a clear beginning, a clear process, and a clear end point — produces better outcomes for the people who need help the most. Every one of our 8 sessions builds deliberately on the one before it. Nothing is accidental. Nothing is filler.
Our framework draws from three of the most powerful evidence-based therapeutic approaches in the world:
CBT — Cognitive Behavioural Therapy The tools to identify and interrupt the thought patterns that are keeping you stuck.
Logotherapy The search for meaning and purpose — because without a compelling reason to move forward, progress doesn’t hold.
ACT — Acceptance and Commitment Therapy The ability to move forward in life even when everything still feels hard — committing to what matters most even in the presence of pain.
Together these three approaches don’t just help you cope. They help you understand yourself, find your footing, and build a life that feels worth living.
Eight weeks consecutively. One process. Yours to keep for the rest of your life.
If you are struggling, you belong here.
Our deepest expertise is in suicide prevention and crisis intervention. If you are having thoughts of ending your life, if you are hurting yourself, if you are a parent watching your child disappear into a darkness you don’t know how to reach — this is exactly where you are supposed to be. You are not too far gone. You are not beyond help. And you do not have to navigate this alone.
We work with tweens, teenagers, and adults across all ages. We work with individuals, and we work with couples.
Beyond crisis and suicide prevention, we help people who are living with:
Depression · Anxiety · Stress and Burnout · Trauma · Grief and Loss · Anger · Low Self-Worth · Relationship Difficulties · Gender-Based Violence · Parenting Challenges · Overwhelm · Fear
Whatever has brought you here today — whether it is a crisis or a quiet desperation you’ve been carrying for years — you are welcome at The Tiny Room. No judgement. No shame. Just help.
You don’t have to have it figured out to take the first step. You just have to be willing.
Here is exactly what happens when you reach out to us.
No surprises. No guesswork. Just a clear, human process from your very first contact to your final session.
Step 1
You complete our intake form. It takes about ten minutes. It helps us understand who you are, what you’re carrying, and what you need. There is no wrong answer. Just be honest.
Step 2
We contact you within one business day. A member of our team will reach out to answer any questions, confirm your details, and book your first session. You will never be left wondering if anyone received your form.
Step 3
You attend your first session. This is where you meet your therapist, understand the TTRITF process in full, and begin. You don’t need to prepare anything. You don’t need to have the right words. You just need to arrive.
Step 4
You commit to eight weeks consecutively. Each session builds on the one before it. This is not a process you can dip in and out of — the structure is what makes it work. We ask for your commitment because your progress depends on it.
Step 5
You leave with something that lasts. By the end of your eighth consecutive session you will have tools, insight, and a relationship with yourself that no circumstance can take away. That is what TTRITF is designed to deliver.
The hardest step is the first one. Everything after that, we do together.
Professional therapy that is actually accessible. Here is what it costs.
We believe that cost should never be the reason someone doesn’t get help. Which is why we are transparent about our pricing and why we have structured our rates well below the standard market rate for registered professional therapy in South Africa.
Medical Aid
We are linked to most major medical aids in South Africa. However, before completing our intake form we strongly recommend that you contact your medical aid directly to confirm whether they will reimburse our procedure code (89205). This one call can save you uncertainty later.
If you have a formal PMB — Prescribed Minimum Benefit — diagnosis, you may qualify for additional medical aid coverage. Simply email your proof of PMB diagnosis to us and we will complete the necessary application on your behalf.
Not sure where to start? Contact us directly [email protected], and we will guide you through it.
Cost should never stand between you and getting better. Questions about medical aid or pricing? Contact us before completing the form. We will answer everything you need to know.
You have already done the hardest part.
You found us. You read this far. That is not nothing — that is everything.
Most people who need help never ask for it. They carry it alone for months, sometimes years, hoping it gets better on its own. If you are still reading this, something in you is ready. Something in you knows that this time needs to be different.
We are not going to promise you that the next eight weeks will be easy. We are going to promise you that they will be worth it.
The Tiny Room is a space without judgement, without shame, and without any agenda other than your progress. Whatever you are carrying — however long you have been carrying it — you are welcome here. Exactly as you are. Right now.
One form. One brave click. That is all that stands between where you are today and where you could be eight weeks from now.
Not ready to book yet? That is completely okay. Start with our free mental health quiz and take one small step at a time.
